Children’s National Medical Center (CNMC) is one of the country’s leading clinical and research institutions dedicated solely to the care of children. An internationally recognized team of more than 5,000 pediatric health care professionals serves nearly 300,000 patients each year regionally, nationally, and internationally.
As a recognized international leader in pediatric research, CNMC receives more than $60 million in research funds annually, and ranks as a top 10 recipient of National Institute of Health (NIH) funding. In 2009, CNMC received a transformational gift of $150 million to support pediatric surgery. This gift from the Government of Abu Dhabi allowed for the creation of The Sheikh Zayed Institute for Pediatric Surgical Innovation. The Sheikh Zayed Institute aims to revolutionize surgical protocols, techniques, and diagnostics and focuses its efforts on four key initiatives: pain medicine, bioengineering, immunology, and systems biology.
As Senior Associate Director, I manage communications between CNMC and key donors to The Sheikh Zayed Institute, specifically those in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Working closely with other CNMC Foundation offices and the Executive Vice President of the CNMC Foundation, I am responsible for designing, executing, and managing an annual communication plan; elevating the visibility, understanding, and mission of The Sheikh Zayed Institute; and serving as writer, editor, and overseer of The Sheikh Zayed Institute annual stewardship report.
