Melissa Price serves as a Senior Associate Director for the Children’s Hospital Foundation, the philanthropic division of Children's National Health System in Washington, DC. In this role, Melissa manages key international donor and stakeholder communications and media relations. Her primary focus is on the United Arab Emirates, elevating the visibility of and engagement with The Sheikh Zayed Institute for Pediatric Surgical Innovation, as well as cultivating new relationships between Children’s National and the UAE.
Melissa has 19 years of communications and public relations experience. Prior to joining Children’s National in April 2013, she was the Press Director for a large, non-profit humanitarian organization specializing in stabilization and economic development in conflict and post-conflict environments. She managed media relations, speech writing, field communications programs, social media activities, and media training for the organization. Her predominate focus was on communications for projects in Afghanistan, Ethiopia, Niger, South Sudan, and Haiti, among others.
Earlier in her career, Melissa served at the U.S. State Department as a Press Officer, handling media for the U.S. Agency for International Development. She also served at The White House as Assistant Staff Secretary and Deputy Director of Presidential Writers. In addition, her government service included time at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration as a Strategic Communications Specialist. She began her communications career at a public relations firm in Tallahassee, FL.
She is a native of New Orleans and received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Communications from the Florida State University. She also holds a Master of Business Administration, with a concentration in Strategic Management, from George Washington University.
She enjoys traveling and is always looking for her next passport stamp. She currently lives in Alexandria, VA.
